English Tuition for Primary 6 in Singapore

Our System For Primary 6 English Tuition

Common Mistakes That Primary 6 Students Make

  • Know the method but apply it too slowly

Students can work through a synthesis or comprehension question correctly, but not quickly enough to finish the paper, costing marks through incomplete sections rather than wrong answers.

  • Freeze on unfamiliar question phrasing

Students who've practised a narrow set of question formats struggle when PSLE phrases something slightly differently.

  • Lose marks to careless errors under pressure

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation slips increase noticeably in exam conditions compared with untimed practice.

  • Panic during oral and listening components

Nerves affect performance more than preparation at this stage, particularly in the exam hall itself.

How Our System Corrects These Problems

  • Timed drilling by question type

Students practise each paper component against a clock regularly, so speed becomes automatic rather than something rushed for the first time on exam day.

  • Exposure to varied question phrasing

Students work through PSLE-style questions phrased in different ways, building flexibility instead of pattern-matching to one format.

  • Exam-condition accuracy checks

Students are trained to build in a final proofreading pass within their time budget, catching the errors that timed pressure tends to introduce.

  • Structured oral and listening practice

Repeated, realistic oral drills build familiarity with the exam format itself, reducing the nerves that come from unfamiliarity rather than lack of ability.

Statistics That Make Augustine Worth It

Why Parents Choose Augustine English Classes.
01

1,800 students taught

Since 2004, Augustine has personally taught over 1,800 students across PSLE, O-Level, and A-Level English — every class taught directly by him, not rotating tutors.

02

82% of students improved at least 2 grades within 6 to 9 months

Not through more practice alone, but through structured correction and fixed methods that align with how marks are actually awarded.

03

Over 20 years of experience in teaching English

Augustine holds a Master's degree from NUS and his methods have been recognised by schools like Victoria School and Hwa Chong Institution.

"By Primary 6, the goal isn't to teach a student something new every lesson. It's to make sure what they already know shows up reliably on the actual paper, under actual time pressure."

About Our Primary 6 English Tuition Teacher

Teacher Augustine is the founder and principal tutor of Augustine's English Classes. He holds a Master's degree from the National University of Singapore and has been teaching English at the primary, secondary, and JC levels for over 20 years.

Since 2004, he has personally coached more than 1,800 students through PSLE, O-Level, and A-Level English, with his answering techniques and composition frameworks recognised by schools such as Victoria School and Hwa Chong Institution. Every PSLE-year class is taught by Augustine himself, so recurring mistakes are caught and corrected right up to the exam, whether a student has trained with us since Primary 5 or is joining us fresh for their final year.

From AL5–AL6 to AL3 — A Six-Month PSLE Turnaround

A student joined us six months before her PSLE, getting AL5 and AL6 consistently since Primary 5. Her parents were hoping tuition might help her scrape a pass.

In class, we focused on:

  • Converting her existing knowledge into faster, more reliable exam technique
  • Timed practice across full past-year papers to build genuine exam pacing
  • Targeted correction of the specific error patterns costing her the most marks

When her results came out:

  • She achieved an AL3, a result her family described as nothing short of a miracle
  • The improvement came from technique and pacing, not from learning entirely new content
  • It confirmed what we see repeatedly at this level: the final stretch is usually about consistency, not new knowledge

“My son had been getting AL5 and AL6 since P5. Finally, I decided to enrol him in Augustine’s primary school English tuition class 6 months before his PSLE. I was hoping for a pass but when the results came out, it was nothing short of a miracle! My son had gotten himself an AL3! Thank you so much, Teacher Augustine!”

FAQs About Our Primary 3 English Tuition Programme

No. Many of our strongest results come from students who join specifically for their PSLE year. At this stage, the focus shifts to exam technique, pacing, and consistency rather than teaching content from scratch, which can be built quickly with the right method.

The programme focuses on timed exam practice, question-type flexibility, pacing across all papers, and reducing careless errors under pressure, turning existing knowledge into reliable exam-day results.

Lessons are built around exam conditions from the outset, not just content review. Students work through full timed papers regularly, rather than only untimed practice questions.

This is one of the most common patterns we see at Primary 6, and it's precisely what our timed, exam-condition training is designed to address, closing the gap between what a student knows and what they actually produce under pressure.

Every class is taught personally by Augustine, capped at a maximum of 8 students, ensuring close tracking of each student's readiness right up to the exam.
