6 Study Hacks For Your Child

08/07/2017/0 Comments/in Learning Tips /by Augustine’s English Classes

Does your child have problems with studying? If your answer is yes, try these 6 studying hacks to help him.

1. GET ORGANISED

Our children today have too many things on their plate. Besides homework and tests, they have extracurricular activities and tuition classes. A planner can help your child categorise, prioritise and schedule his activities. Remind him to review the items in the planner at the beginning and the end of the day to keep on track.

2. CREATE A DISTRACTION-FREE ZONE

The studying environment for your child should also be quiet, allowing him to concentrate. Remove all entertainment devices that might distract them.

3. TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS

When you notice your child starting to daydream, ask him to put down his pencil and take a break. In fact, encourage them to take many breaks. As long as they’re short, intermittent pauses will actually boost your child’s concentration level.

4. EAT RIGHT AND SLEEP TIGHT

The 2 keys to having an effective brain is to eat the right kind of food and to sleep at the right time. Serve your kids a hearty breakfast will give him a good kick start for the rest of the day.

5. THINK POSITIVELY

Encourage your child to always think positively when studying or going for the exam. Avoid disaster thinking. Help him turn negative statements like “I didn’t prepare early enough to do well for this exam” into positive ones like “I started the preparation later but I had a good study plan. I will do well for this exam.”

6. LET YOUR CHILD BE THE TEACHER

Take a mock test together. If he is able to explain his answers and give illustrations for it, he is well prepared for the exam. Not to mention, take this as an opportunity to bond with your child!

Studying can be made fun and it will certainly be more enjoyable when you do it with your child.

For over 15 years, Augustine’s English Classes has helped hundreds of students fall in love with the subject and excelling in school exams. If you are interested to know how our classes work, or what our secret winning formula is, do feel free to drop us a message or give us a call.
